Philodendron Lemon Lime comes from the rainforests of South America. You can easily identify this gorgeous plant because of its striking foliage that features a vibrant green-yellow shade and heart-shaped leaves like most other philodendrons.

The leaves have a pink tinge when the plant is young and grows into a more prominent neon or lime green on maturity. In ideal growing conditions, it can grow up to 4-6 feet indoors.

Requirements for Growing Philodendron Lemon Lime

Light

Unlike other philos that don’t mind staying in a prolonged shade once in a while, Philodendron Lemon Lime needs plenty of bright but indirect light to maintain that neon color on the foliage.

For the best hue, you can also keep the plant in the mild morning sun for 2-3 hours. Remember to not expose it to the harsh afternoon sun as it may scorch the fascinating foliage.

Soil

Use a well-draining medium that’s also rich in organic matter. The soil should be well-aerated and open so the roots can grow easily.

If you are using regular garden soil, amend it with compost and coco peat. You can also mix perlite for better drainage.

Water

Philodendron Lemon Lime hates completely dry or moist soil all the time. Water when the topsoil feels a little dry to the touch. Avoid watering the plant daily, as if there is waterlogging near the roots, then this can cause root rot. In this case, stop watering for a while and see how the condition improves.

Temperature

The perfect temperature for these beauties is 64-86°F or 18-30°C during the day, and it should be around 55-60°F or 12-15°C.

You should be extra careful during the colder months and keep the containers away from cold windows, vents, or drafts.

Humidity

If the air in your area is dry, fill a tray with pebbles and halfway water and keep its pot on top of it. In typical households, this plant would do just fine.

Fertilizer

As the plant is not a fast grower,  you don’t have to worry much about feeding it. To boost the growth, use a balanced liquid fertilizer once in 4-5 weeks, after diluting it to 1/4 of its strength. Avoid feeding the plant in winter.

Pruning

You can regularly prune the plant to keep the trailing stems under a desired shape and size and encourage new growth. Trim off any discolored, damaged, or dead parts from time to time.

Also, overwatering can lead to bacterial infections, fungal diseases, and root rot.
