Sunlight

Due to its bright variegation, Manjula pothos needs a little more light exposure than the other solid green pothos. Expose the plant for 2-3 hours in the direct mild morning sun for the best colors on the leaves. Without proper light exposure, the leaves may turn completely green.

Avoid keeping the plant in complete shade or the harsh afternoon sunlight.

Soil

A regular potting mix is more than enough for the good growth of this plant. Use a blend of vermiculite or perlite in the growing medium in the ratio of 2:1 to enhance drainage.

You can add one portion of shredded pine bark, or coconut coir to boost plant growth. It grows best at a pH level between 6-6.5.

Water

Manjula pothos hates to sit in the water, so avoid overwatering it. Dip your index finger in the soil to check the topsoil—if it feels dry to the touch, then only water the plant.

Also, during the colder months, the plant enters the dormant stage, so cut back watering in winter.

Temperature & Humidity

The plant grows best in the temperature range of 60-80°F or 15-26°C. Do not expose it to a temperature below 50°F or 10°C. As far as the humidity is concerned, it would do just fine in normal household humidity.

Fertilizer

Do not worry much about feeding the plant if you have used a rich growing medium. Fertilize Manjula Pothos once in 5-7 weeks, using a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half its strength. Do not feed it in winter.

Pruning

You can keep it looking neat and in shape by snipping off dead and damaged stems from time to time. Use clean and sharp pruning shears for the job.

Pests & Diseases

Manjula Pothos can be susceptible to gnats, thrips, or mealybugs. Keep them at bay using an insecticidal soap solution.

Avoid overwatering, and watch for constant soggy soil to keep most potential diseases at bay.

Toxicity

Manjula pothos has traces of calcium oxalate crystals, and consuming its leaves can cause mouth and throat irritation. Keep it out of reach of your kids and pets if they are playful.
