What Makes this Study So Significant

The Paharpur Business Centre and Software Technology Incubator Park in New Delhi was 20 years old and spanned 50,000 square feet with 1200 indoor plants and 300 workers. After the completion of the study, it was observed that the building has the cleanest and healthiest indoor air in Delhi when compared to other buildings. Not only that, but it was also found:

  • 50-52% of reported reduction in eye irritation
  • 35-36% reduction in respiratory problems
  • 25-26% reduction in headache
  • 10-12% reduction in lung impairment
  • 9-10% reduction in asthma problems
  • 15-20% reduction in energy costs as the plants reduced outside air infiltration
  • Worker productivity increased by 20-24% as the plants helped in increased blood-oxygen levels, which ultimately resulted in fewer sick days
