Requirements for Growing White Eggplant in Pot

Position

Place your white eggplants in a location that receives good air ventilation and a minimum of 5-7 hours of direct sunlight. They constantly need warm temperatures to produce tasty fruits.

Soil

Use a well-draining loamy medium with a pH of 5.5 to 7 for optimal growth. Since eggplants love a little moist soil all the time, you can add aged manure or compost to enhance the water-retaining capacity.

Watering

White eggplants prefer to grow in a moist but well-draining growing medium. Keep an eye on the topsoil and water when it goes a little dry. Do not let the medium dry completely or stay waterlogged.

Temperature & Humidity

The ideal temperature range for the plant’s growth is 75-85 F or 24-30 C. Temperatures higher than 95 F or 35 C will cease its growth. In such a case, consider bringing the plant to shade or providing enough moisture to fight the heat.

Avoid exposing the plant to temperatures lower than 50F or 10C.

White Eggplant Care

Fertilizer

Eggplants are heavy feeders and require phosphorous the most. Use a 5:10:5 fertilizer as per the label’s recommendations, once a month. You can also spray the leaves with liquid plant food, typically known as foliar feeding.

Staking

When the white eggplant bush gets taller and the fruits heavier, tie the plants to a stake to support them. Also, you can use a tomato cage to support the plant.

Pests and Diseases

Keep the plant safe from black flea beetles, cutworms, aphids, and spider mites. Use an insecticidal soap or neem oil solution to fight these pests.
