Sunlight

The baby Rubber Plant appreciates plenty of filtered sunlight all day long. For the variegated variety, make sure it gets plenty of bright but indirect light for the most part of the day as it will keep the colors vivid.

Do not expose the plant to the harsh afternoon sun as it may shrivel and fade the foliage.

Soil

Peperomia obtusifolia grows best in a well-draining, nutrient-rich potting mix with a slightly acidic pH of 6-6.5. If you use garden soil, amend it well with orchid bark, perlite, coconut coir, or coarse river sand. Make sure the medium aerates well.

Water

The waxy foliage can store water and can go without regular watering for long. A weekly watering session will be enough to keep this gorgeous specimen thriving. Let the topsoil dry out in between watering for the best growth.

Note: Overwatering will lead to sluggish growth and promote root rot in no time.

Temperature & Humidity

Peperomias do not appreciate extreme temperatures. Expose your Baby Rubber Plant to an optimal range of 65-75 F or 18-24 C. Do not expose it to temperatures below 50 F or 10 C, for that will affect the plant growth to quite an extent.

The plant will thrive in 40-50% humidity. You may place the plant on the bathroom counters or keep a humidifier handy on drier days. Also, the pebble tray adds moisture to the air.
