Light

If you want to make the leaves greener with prominent veins, keep the plant all day at a location that gets bright but indirect light. For indoors, keep it near an east-facing location where it could bask in some mild and direct morning sunlight.

Avoid exposing it directly to the afternoon sun for long hours, as it will burn the foliage.

Soil

Philodendron gloriosum thrives best in well-draining soil rich in organic matter. Amend garden soil with compost and coco peat. Also, adding a bit of perlite will help in drainage.

Water

This Philodendron cultivar is sensitive to overwatering like others, as it can lead to root rot. Water when the topsoil feels a little dry to the touch.

Temperature

Philodendron gloriosum grows well in the temperature range of 64-86°F or 18-30°C. Avoid exposing it to temperatures lower than 50F (10C). Also, keep it away from A/C or heating vents when growing indoors.

Fertilizer

To help Philodendron gloriosum grow massive leaves it is popular for, feed the plant once in 4-6 weeks using a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to 1/2 of its strength. Avoid feeding the plant in winter.

Pruning

This tropical variety is not high on maintenance when it comes to pruning. Trim out any unhealthy, dead, or straggly parts so that it focuses all the energy into growing new foliage.

Pests and Diseases

Spider mites, mealybugs, whiteflies, and scale bugs are some common household pests that can attack the plant.

Keeping the foliage dry and saving the plant from overwatering will keep it free of diseases.

Toxicity

The large leaves of this plant may have traces of calcium oxalate crystals, which can cause an upset stomach or mouth irritation if consumed. It would be a good idea to keep it away from pets and children.
