2. Dancing Lady Orchid
Botanical Name: Oncidium
Widely found in South America, Central America, and Mexico, dancing lady orchids sport large sprays of patterned, ruffled blooms in an array of hues that appear from fall and last till spring. This one’s a slightly moodier orchid to grow, so beginners, take note!

Lady slipper orchid features pouch-shaped blooms in stunning hues and patterns that resemble a slipper-like lip. Flowering is more prominent in spring, and fall, but blooms also appear intermittently in other seasons.
Like most orchids, it prefers indirect sunshine but can also tolerate shade. It’s perfect for adorning that dimly lit, neglected corner in your home. Just ensure you plant it in a medium that retains some moisture when you water.
4. Cattleya Orchid
Botanical Name: Cattleya
Known as the “queen of orchids” due to their showy, fragrant blooms in white, yellow, red, and purple, cattleyas flower mainly in spring and fall. Their ability to rebloom can be complemented with varieties that bloom in other seasons for a year-round orchid supply.

Botanical Name: Tolumnia
Also called equitant orchids, tolumnia orchids are native to the Caribbean. Flowering several times a year, its blooms appear in multiple shades and sometimes spotted patterns. These are perfect to place on tabletops, shelves, and other small, compact spaces.
In their natural habitat, they grow in bright, indirect light. An east-facing window should do the trick. A south-facing one with sheer curtains for filtered light works too.
7. Jewel Orchid
Botanical Name: Ludisia discolor
Jewel orchids have beautiful ornamental leaves with delicate white flower spikes. They bloom throughout the year and can grow up to a foot high. This variety’s terrestrial nature sets it apart from other orchids, as it grows on land rather than tree branches.
