1. Pick a Right Size Pot
You can grow snake plants faster by planting them in smaller pots. Several snake plants growing together in any 8-12 inches pot will be more than sufficient for regular varieties.

2. Keep it Slightly Root Bound
This plant will burgeon best when kept in a slightly root-bound state. Following this trick will encourage it to grow fast and form more pups. Re-pot the plant only when you see a lot of offsets in the planter but no space to grow or the roots popping out from the topsoil.
3. Feed Regularly with All-Purpose Fertilizer
Snake plants are not heavy feeders, but nourishing them with an all-purpose liquid fertilizer like 10-10-10 in 1/4 to 1/2 of the recommended strength once every 4-6 weeks is required for optimum growth.

Snake plants are succulents and can store water in their fleshy leaves. Frequent watering can cause root rot and stunted growth. It is best to wait until the topsoil goes dry between watering intervals. Also, try to keep leaves dry by avoiding overhead watering.

Definitely a clay pot works better. Also, a water meter comes in handy. I use one to check my plants on a regular basis. Some plants require more water than others so you can be careful not to under or overwater.
