Botanical Name: Epipremnum aureum ‘Snow Queen’

Here’s how to get bigger leaves on any pothos

Snow Queen Pothos Plant Information

Snow queen pothos is often confused with the marble queen pothos; you can quickly identify snow queen pothos by its white coloring. It is more variegated and whiter as compared to the marble queen pothos.

The plant is remarkably easy to grow and attains a stunning hue while growing to an impressive length/height of 2-4 feet indoors.

Propagating Snow Queen Pothos

You can quickly propagate this plant like other pothos via stem cuttings. Snip off 4-6 inches long cutting and plant it in well-draining soil. Water well, keep it in indirect bright light, and you will see new growth in 2-4 weeks.

Light

Snow Queen Pothos needs a little more light exposure than the other solid green pothos. If you want the white color on the foliage to be more prominent, expose the plant for 2-3 hours in the direct mild morning sun.

The white-colored variegation will turn back to green without enough sunlight.

Keep it near a bright window for the most part of the day, where it can bask in indirect light. Remember to keep snow queen pothos out of direct sunlight, as it may scorch the leaves.

Soil

Regular potting mix works just fine for the healthy growth of this plant. You can also use a blend of vermiculite or perlite in the growing medium in the ratio of 2:1 to enhance drainage.

Adding one portion of shredded pine bark or coconut coir can also help the plant’s growth. It grows best at a pH level between 6-6.5.

Water

The quickest way to kill this beautiful plant is to overwater it. Allow the soil to dry out slightly between the watering sessions. Dip your index finger in the soil to check the topsoil—if it feels dry to the touch, water the plant.

Also, cut back watering during the colder months when the plant enters the dormant stage.

Temperature

The plant is at its most comfortable in the temperature range of 60-80°F or 15-26°C. However, the plant can tolerate warmer temperatures easily as long as it is not in direct sunlight.

Do not expose it to a temperature below 50°F or 10°C.

Humidity

The plant would do just fine in the normal household humidity. It grows lush at 40-60 percent humidity level. You can also keep it in a humid space such as a bathroom, laundry room, or kitchen.

Fertilizer

If you have used a rich growing medium, Snow Queen Pothos can go without any feed, but it may remain smaller and grow slowly. Once in 5-7 weeks, use a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half its strength. Stop feeding in winters in cold climates.

Pruning

In the right growing conditions, the plant can grow fast. You can keep its growth in check by pruning the leaves and stems from time to time, using clean, sharp pruning shears.

Pests and Diseases

Snow Queen Pothos can be susceptible to gnats, thrips, or mealybugs. Keep them at bay using an insecticidal soap solution.

Root rot is one of the most common diseases. Avoid overwatering at any cost, and watch out for constant soggy soil.

Toxicity

Snow Queen Pothos contains calcium oxalate crystals, and consuming its leaves can cause mouth and throat irritation. Keep it out of reach of your kids and pets if they are playful.
