Here are the best types of pothos you can grow
What is N’joy Pothos?
Also known by its scientific name, Epipremnum pinnatum ‘Njoy,’ the plant has a signature mottled white and green variegation. The white color of the leaves makes it easily recognizable from the other pothos.
The plant can grow up to an 8-12 inches length, provided you take proper care and place it at a location where it gets plenty of bright, indirect light.
Propagating N’joy Pothos
Like all Pothos, N’Joy is extremely easy to propagate using stem cuttings.
- Snip away 4-6 inches long cutting, below the node, from a healthy plant.
- Remove the lower foliage, dip the end in a rooting hormone, and put it in a glass of water.
- Keep it where the plant gets bright, indirect light. Change the water every 3-5 days. The roots will develop in a few weeks.
- You can also propagate the plant in soil. Take a cutting, dip it in a rooting hormone, and plant it in a pot filled with a seed starter mix. Water well, and place it at a location where it gets bright, indirect light.

Best Container for Growing Pothos N-joy
You can pick any pot to grow N’Joy pothos—make sure it has a drainage hole at the bottom. The plant will do well in a pot of 6-8 inches. Keeping it in a small container will help it grow bigger, as the plant grows best in a slightly root-bound stage.
Requirements for Growing N’joy Pothos
Location
N’joy enjoys indirect sunlight—more like partial shade. Keeping it in the direct sunlight will damage its leaves. At the same time, low light can cause the variegation to fade.
Keep the plant near an east-facing window where it can get morning sunlight for 2-3 hours will keep it happy and you will enjoy deep colors on the foliage, too!
Soil
Njoy Pothos isn’t a demanding plant and can survive in most kinds of soil. You can also use any good-quality potting mix designed for houseplants. We have an amazing article on how to make the best potting mixes for plants here.
Watering
The best way to water Njoy Pothos is by letting the topsoil go a bit dry before you water it again. However, do make sure that the growing medium is not going completely dry at any time. Also, do make sure to not overwater the plant as it will cause root rot.
Humidity
As Njoy Pothos is a tropical plant, it craves a lot of humidity—somewhere around 60% to 80%. Keeping its pot on a pebble tray filled with water is also one good way to maintain the levels.
Temperature
Generally, the plant prefers temperatures ranging between 50-85 F (10-30 C). Just make sure that you are not exposing the plant to sudden temperature changes.
N’joy Pothos Care
Fertilizer
The plant is a light feeder and will also do good without fertilization. Using a balanced feed once in 5-6 weeks will give the plant all the boost it needs to grow well. Do follow the instructions on the label.
Pests and Diseases
Be careful of mealybugs and aphids. Use insecticidal soap to knock them away. N’Joy pothos can get brown spots on its leaves due to overwatering. Make sure that you are not unnecessarily watering the plant.
Pruning
Prune away dead and damaged leaves from time to time. As the plant is not a vigorous grower, it will stay compact. However, you can give it a nice trim to keep it bushier.
N’Joy Vs. Pearls and Jade Pothos
The variegation on the N’Joy pothos differs from the one on the Pearls and Jade—the former has shades of white with deep and light green color on the foliage, while the latter has cream-white and light green hues. The leaves of N’Joy are also smaller and broader.
Is Pothos N-joy Toxic?
Like many other Pothos species, Njoy Pothos is mildly toxic for humans and pets because of the calcium oxalate crystals. If ingested, it can irritate the mouth and skin. Make sure you keep it out of reach from children and pets.
