How to Grow Coleus in Water?
1. Taking the Cutting
Snip 4-6 inches of cuttings from the parent coleus plant just below a leaf node.
Remove the leaves from the lower half of each cutting, leaving only the top sets of leaves.
2. Rooting Hormone (Optional)
Dip the cut end of the cutting in rooting hormone (You can also use honey). While this step is optional, it can enhance root development.
3. Place Cuttings in Water
Fill the container with enough water to submerge the lower portion of the cuttings.
Insert it into the water, ensuring the leafless node is below the water level.

4. Location and Light
Place the container in a spot with bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sun exposure, as it may encourage algae growth in the water.
5. Monitor and Change Water
Check the water level regularly – change it every 4-6 days to keep it fresh and oxygenated. If it looks cloudy – change it immediately.

Root Development
After a few weeks, you should observe roots emerging from the submerged nodes. Once the roots are a few inches long, your coleus cuttings are ready for transplanting.
Once the roots are well-established, you can either continue to grow the plant in the water or transplant it into a pot filled with well-draining soil.
