Global Green Pothos Information

Global Green Pothos is relatively new in the tropical houseplant circle. Its glossy green leaves are uniquely patterned with lime and emerald hues!

Like other Pothos, Global green also needs bright but indirect light to maintain its stunning marbled looks. It usually looks the best in hanging baskets or in containers that are on something. It loves its soil to dry out between watering schedules and occasional feeding.

Picking the Right Container

Starting the plant in an 8-10 inches pot would be a good idea. It is best to plant them in hanging baskets to display the beautiful vines or in a container placed on a stand.

Here are the top benefits of growing pothos

You can propagate Global Green Pothos in both soil and water:

In Water

  • Choose a healthy stem and snip 4-6 inches long cutting above the node at a 45-degree angle.
  • Put it in a glass jar filled with water and place it in a warm spot that receives bright light.
  • Change the water once every 3-6 days.
  • The cutting will form roots in 10-12 days. You can then continue to grow it in water.

In Soil

  • After making the cuts using the same step mentioned above, allow to dry the cut end a few hours or a day and form callous.
  • Dip the cut portion in a rooting hormone, and plant the cutting in well-draining, moist soil.
  • Place the pot where it gets bright but indirect sunlight.
  • Roots will take around 2-4 weeks to establish.

Location

Global Green Pothos love bright but indirect sunlight. It is best to place the containers slightly away from the sunny window, near east or north-facing windows, or on top of desks and shelves, where they can receive filtered daylight.

Soil

Though regular potting mixes work well, you can mix vermiculite or perlite in the growing medium in the ratio of 2:1 to enhance drainage. Adding one portion of shredded pine bark or coconut coir can also help the plant’s growth. The suitable pH level should be maintained between 6-6.5.

Watering

This houseplant hates standing in wet soil. It is ideal to allow the soil to dry out slightly between the watering sessions. Dip your index finger in the soil to check the topsoil—if it feels dry to the touch, water the plant.

Temperature

Global Green Pothos prefers comfortable temperatures in the range of 60-80°F or 15-26°C. However, the plant can tolerate warmer temperatures easily as long as it is not in direct sunlight.

Keep it away from windows or doors to prevent any temperature fluctuations. Do not expose it to a temperature below 50°F or 10°C.

Humidity

Maintaining a 40-60 percent humidity level around the plant will make it incredible. Keep the container in a humid space such as a bathroom, laundry room, or kitchen. Although the best part is pothos can grow in dry air as well.

Fertilizer

Global Pothos may work well without any fertilizer, though they will remain smaller and grow slowly. Once in 5-7 weeks, use a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half of its strength. Stop feeding in fall till winters in cold climates.

Pruning

The plant can grow fast, producing bigger leaves if you provide support. It is essential to keep the height in check when growing indoors. So, prune your Pothos from spring to early fall using clean, sharp pruning shears.

Cut back the stems as required to maintain the desired look and shape. You can also pinch back the fresh stems during the growing season in spring and summer.

Pests and Diseases

Global Green Pothos can be disturbed by the common pests such as gnats, thrips, or mealybugs. Keep them at bay using an insecticidal soap solution.

Root rot is one of the most common diseases affecting plants. Avoid overwatering at any cost and watch out for constant soggy soil.

Toxicity

The Global Green Pothos is a not a toxic houseplant, but it contains calcium oxalate crystals and eating can cause mouth and throat irritation–keep it out of reach of your kids and pets if they are playful.

Common Problems with Global Green Pothos

  • Yellowing Leaves: If your Global Pothos leaves begin to turn yellow, it can indicate root rot or overwater. Immediately check the soil moisture and lower down the watering sessions.
  • Scorched or Brown Leaves: If leaves begin to look crunchy and brown, move the plant away from direct exposure to sunlight. Place a screen or curtain to filter the sunlight and remove the scorched leaves.
  • Dust: Maintaining gorgeous colors is essential to keep the plant dust-free. Use a damp, soft cloth to wipe off the foliage’s dust carefully.

  1. Mary, Pothos can be put in terracotta pot. Just watch for watering routine because different materials on pots determined how often we water our plants.
