2. Carrots

Not exactly a fruit, but growing carrots from the top can be fun! 

Cut about an inch from the top of a carrot to regrow the fruit. Place the cut portion down in a shallow dish filled with water. You will start seeing green shoots sprout in 2-7 days, which can vary depending on the type. Read more here.

3. Avocado

Get a fresh avacado fruit, cut the top 1/4 section and prick toothpicks as shown in the image.

Suspend it over a water dish in a way that the lower half of the fruit gets submerged in water. Locate it where it gets plenty of bright but indirect light. Kep changing the water once in 4-6 days and the fruit will form roots in 3-4 weeks.

Once it does, transplant it into a pot.

4. Kiwi

To grow kiwi from its top, simply slice the top in a way that it has seeds and then plant it in a well-draining potting mix.

Water well and make sure it gets plenty of bright but indirect sunlight. The plant is a slow grower, so you will have to wait for many years till it starts bearing fruits!

5. Sugarcane

The sugarcane you get at the stores can also be used to make new plants. Cut a 2-4 inches top section that has at least 1-2 ‘rings’ in it. Soak it overnight in water and then plant it directly in a pot.

You can also suspend it in a jar of water using toothpicks till it grows root and then transplant it into the garden or pot.

6. Strawberries

Growing strawberries from the top can be a rewarding experience. As its seeds are extremely small, slice the fruit from the top, ensuring the section has seeds.

Now plant the sliced potion in well-draining soil, water well, and keep it where it gets 4-5 hours of bright and indirect light. Soo, you will see a new plant!

7. Sweet Potatoes

Growing sweet potatoes from the top is really easy. Cut the upper section, prick some toothpicks, and suspend it in a jar of water where the bottom section comes in contact with water.

8. Kiwano

You might be surprised to see this on this list, but growing kiwano from the top is possible if you do it right. The trick here is to take more than 1/4 of the top so that the seeds come along with the flesh.

Once you have taken the top, plant it in a pot filled with a well-draining growing medium. Keep the soil moist and provide plenty of bright but indirect light. It will show new growth in 3-5 weeks.
