Get a wide container and fill it with 2-3 inches of sand, then top it up with 2-4 inches of soil with clay content. Dig up a small trench using your hand and place the lotus tuber into the hole with the leaves facing up.

Carefully cover the tuber with a thin layer of soil (not too much). Refrain from compacting it. Be careful not to cause any damage to the runners or tubers. Place the bowl or container in a spot that receives full, direct sunlight for at least 6 hours daily.

For growing Hyacinths, it is important that you choose a narrow neck bottle, preferably something that is shaped like an hourglass, to ensure the bulbs stay in place and don’t get completely submerged in the water.

Line up gravel at the bottom and then place the hyacinth bulb in it. Fill it with water, so it stays right below the bottom of the bulb and does not touch it. When the bulb grows roots, it will reach the water.
